PTA Plastics is excited to welcome Joe Staub as the new General Manager of our Connecticut facility. Joe brings deep experience in operational leadership and a strong commitment to innovation and team development. His addition marks an exciting step forward as we continue to enhance our capabilities and deliver exceptional value to our customers.
You became the General Manager at PTA Plastics in December. What were some of your previous job roles and responsibilities before coming to PTA Plastics?
Prior to PTA, I was the SVP of Operations at Premia Spine for 9 months, overseeing all US operations. Prior to that, I was a Director at Northeast Scientific, wearing many hats over a 5-year period. Before that I ran my own consulting business, helping a variety of companies across multiple industries such as SaaS and CPG. I have also worked in the athletics world as a coach and consultant, with my original background being Human Performance helping train athletes.
What are some of your responsibilities as General Manager at PTA?
Although my role involves numerous specific responsibilities, tasks, and meetings, the core of the job is ensuring that everyone stays aligned with the company’s goals and that communication remains effective. Even though we operate across two locations with both dedicated and shared resources, we function as one unified team. Together, we must continually address, respond to, and manage the production needs of current customers while preparing for those of future customers. Doing so will maintain clear, consistent communication with our clients and with one another.
What are some of the goals you have as General Manager?
PTA has been in business for over 70 years, clearly, there are a lot of good things happening. It’s why so many have stayed so long. My goals are to help build and develop any areas we need to improve in while maximizing our strengths to achieve the PTA 2035 plan. If I can help facilitate everyone’s effort to achieve their own individual goals, their department's goals, and the company goals, we will all be in a great spot as we move forward!
From my perspective - improved communication, clarity of expectations and each person (at all levels) taking accountability/ownership of themselves will allow us to maximize our own contributions and facilitate us to continue to be successful as a whole.
What impact does your role have internally?
I work alongside all the the managers in CT as well as cross-functionally with all other departments / teams in CO. In some senses, the largest impact my role has is connecting the dots between everyone, helping finalize decisions and then making sure everyone sees the big picture.
What impact does your role have on our customers?
While at times I will engage with customers, tour them on visits, or go visit them, the best way to understand the GM’s impact on customers is as follows; if I am doing my job successfully, driving the teams to achieve their goals by having the individuals on those teams trained, understanding their goals and expectations and executing their respective jobs at a high level, we will meet the customers’ expectations and deliver high quality product on time. That lends itself to customers bringing us more business and new customers wanting to do business with us, because of our reputation for quality manufacturing and customer success.

Favorite Hobby?
Anything active / physical (lifting, BJJ, playing sports, hiking) when I have the energy / time. Fun fact for the CO folks, I have done almost twenty 14’ers.
Reading books, playing cards/board games if I have no energy to be physically active or the weather doesn’t allow it.
Favorite Food? BBQ Brisket if I had to pick a specific thing, but I love food and I love to eat foods from all countries and styles. Anytime I am in a new place or have an opportunity to try a new type of food I do. I’ve eaten some strange things in my time as well, like fried bugs from a street cart, to a roasted pig’s eye.
What do you like to do on the weekends? When I am not driving my 3 kids around to sports, birthday parties, or having to run errands/going to Costco, I enjoy visiting friends or going on a date with my wife (having food/drinks and laughing), traveling to places I’ve never been and exploring the history whatever place I am in.
